False veterans, up until now 13 people have handed in the certificate with the status of KLA veteran

However, stronger than justice, the conscience seems to be. The initiative of a former KLA member in Malisheva, for the false beneficiaries of these allegations to hand over the veteran's certificate, has resulted in success.

So far, 13 of them have decided to do so.

Ex-partor of The KLA, Faik Zogaj from Maliseva, has launched an initiative to convince all false KLA veterans to surrender their status. That initiative, Zogaj says, has so far responded positively to 13 people. He expects that number to increase.

“are giving up the status of veteran from all areas, from the Pacific Dukagjin we can say from all areas, and from within the week the number has gone to 13 people and we today expect some others to appear and believe by November 28th, the number will increase by 150 people who submit veteran status” he said.

Zogaj is convinced that there are 128 false veterans in his village in Mleqan, and around Drenica about 2 thousand others.

Anyone who knows that he hasn't been declared a fake veteran has to surrender his status”, he told RTK.

Kevdet Qreqi of the Council for the Protection of veterans' Rights says people who have been profiting falsely from the state must be brought to justice. ” I think the state has to act because it's abuse of veteran status and the UQU itself and the court has to take action in this statement and all those who have misbehaved to stand before the court and get deserved punishment. Those with an app for status did not have to do that, but it was their material interest and professions, and now they look for the court to do their job and, out of fear, they began to withdraw from veteran's status”, he said.

The state prosecutor has proposed that the Court temporarily ban the distribution of pensions for 19 thousand and 500 veterans. In the first quarter of this year alone, it is estimated that 40m euros have been spent on this category. Meanwhile, about 20 thousand people are allegedly illegally involved in the UCK veterans' list. Through the indictment, the prosecution removed 738 names from the list of fake veterans.
