Albanians in distress, thousands of residents spent night under open sky

For many residents of the Durres and Thummana area last night, there was anxiety and fear of the panic of the powerful earthquake that struck Tuesday morning, with many victims, injuries and considerable material damage in the Republic of Albania.

The Durres residents spent the night in the streets, cars, and many at the city stadium, considered even under the open sky in the green field.

Citizens said they were not satisfied with managing the situation. Although representatives of the Durres municipality have said otherwise.

According to Susan Basha, resident of Durres, the night between November 26th and 27th was cold and stable. She, aged until 2:00 in the morning, is unable to obtain an umbrella.

You can't stay like this, cold. We're dying. No umbrellas, no seats. They're telling us, we're out of the middle of the night without an umbrella. We're here at 9:00. Fear, we cannot stay home”, Basha stressed.

Barbara Bratiya was also saddened by what she saw from the effects of the earthquake. Bratija adds she is terrorised by what happened in Durres.

And we've had terrors like all of Durres, but there's even worse than young girls, young ones, children, seeing zoos, mothers crying. We're sad. I got an ambulance sent to the hospital for anxiety, panic, panic, and all, Bratiya said.

Meanwhile, directors of the Durres municipality were praised for managing the earthquake-made situation.

Etleva Kondi, deputy mayor of Durres, told Kosova Pres that the number of residents for housing currently comes increasing -- there are minimally 1500 people -- perhaps more, the number that is constantly growing because of the panic that has been created, but also because of dwellings that are uninhabitable.

Kondi also showed that there has been enough food for earthquake - stricken residents. He also mentioned the contributions made by neighboring countries to this serious situation for Albania.

There's probably a complaint, people have panic, but we've been trying to manage all this highly charged situation. There are 100 tents installed near this environment. I believe tents are being installed by the Italian government's assistance in another environment that is near the stadium. We say we've managed well enough. Relief distribution is made mainly by the Red Cross, by various humanitarian associations -- from Caritas, from different countries, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Italy. Their management is becoming all the families present and people have food and water. There's enough food, we're trying to deliver it three times in the umbrella”, Condy stressed.

During the night, for a visit to this Ibrahimx0> was Republic of Albania President Ilir Meta, and incumbent Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj with collaborators.
