The bill, dubbed in the people as “, killed the gays” in Uganda, was abolished five years earlier due to a technicality, but the government said Tuesday it was planning to empower him within a few weeks.
The government said the legislation would curb the growth of the unnatural “sex” into the nation located east of Africa, writes Independent, translates Periscopi.
“Homosexuality is not natural for Ugandans, but there has been massive conscription of gays in schools, especially among young people, where they promote false notion that people are born that way,” declared the country's minister for ethics and integrity, Simon Lokodo.
Our current criminal law is limited. He only criminalizes the act. We want to make it clear to anyone involved in promoting and recruiting the gays that it will criminalize. Those who commit such acts will be sentenced to death. ”
Mr. Lokodo said the bill, which has the support of the country's president, Yoweri Musveni, would be re-elected to parliament in the coming weeks.
He added he expected the bill to be voted in before the end of this year.
The minister was optimistic that the bill would pass by two-thirds of the MPs.
