“This is not a protest for social discontent, but it is the vandalism given that shows there are political motives behind it to destabilise the government,” President Moreno has said in a televised address Monday, translated Periscopi in Albanian.
Moreno, 66, who has moved from the politics of the left that applied to his predecessor and mentor Rafael Correa, by halting fuel-fuel subsidies for the poor and by applying auterity measures.
He accused political officers of orchestrating a stamp and accused close politicians of infiltrated the protests.
In a Twitter post, Correa said Moreno had come to an end and called for new elections. /Periscope
