The Department of Agriculture has ordered the re-export of cars of various models, from limos to racing cars, from pick-up to vans, citing “the discovery of a number of exotic snails in five different shipments of vehicles imported from Europe”.
” The character called '%athHeath) which is believed to exist only in Southeast Europe, Canada and the US is a harmful species with significant agricultural and environmental impact and could be lethal to local flora and wildlife”, authorities declared.
Cars are being kept in a strict quarantine at ports of arrival in four countries in Australia: Queensland, New South West, Victoria and West Australia.
