Kosovo writes to Isco for lahuta: It doesn't belong only to Serbs, we have a goat head.

Parliamentary Commission for Education, Culture, Youth, Sports, Innovation and Undertaking will ask U NESTO is known not only as an instrument of Serbs but also of Albanians and other peoples. A two - page letter explaining why this instrument belongs to some peoples has been launched toward Paris. The letter was sent to the Kosovo Embassy in Paris on Tuesday, so that the Embassy will submit the organisation to the address of U General Director. NESTO, Audrey Azoulay.

But this reaction could go to U headquarters. NESTO's more than two months since Serbia has achieved its goal: “Gusle” is registered in Serbia's name. The approval of the proposal was taken after the 13th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage, held in Port Louis, the Republic of Maurit, from November 26th to December 1, 2018, at the Convention International Centre, Swami Vivecanada. There it was decided that “Gusle singing” will be taken under protection.

In the letter the Parliament Commission has forwarded to the Kosovo Embassy in Paris, some facts are listed that the laha is an instrument used by several peoples. For this, the Commission has written that it is based on the strong argumentation of experts in this field from the Albanological Institute in Pristina and other institutions in Albania and Kosovo.

“Laha does not express the cultural identity of a single people in this case. Laha is an old cardon instrument, and this musical instrument has been popular in Europe and outside Europe. Even today, some people use the lhouta, with certain differences from each other. The evidence is also named after several languages of European and Asian peoples”, written on paper. It explains that Albanians use shell in five Balkan states: Albania, Kosovo, Western Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. It is explained that in Albanians the laha is highly esteemed and that there is also a cult on the lahuta, it is adorned with carvings of known mythic figures from the age of antiques, Illyrian culture of snake image and goat head.
