Haradinaj's government reacts to SBASKU: With pressure, you're growing.

The pressure of teachers through strikes is not enough.

This is the Government of Kosovo's response to the requirements of the United Education, Science and Technology Union to raise wages.

Ramush Haradinaj's office considers that the government is open to dialogue and for sustainable solutions, but not through pressure and strikes.

However, the requirements should be based on current opportunities, should be seen full of the process and should be known that the pressure and setting of conditions, not only does it not produce solutions, but it risks the broad solution that would open up special treatment for these” categories, the Government's response reported.

The strike, launched on January 14th, is expected to continue next week.

The SBASKU has announced that the entire primary, middle and university education will continue to strike to the realisation of the demand for growth for 30 percent of the cofficiency for teachers and professors.

The education ministry has announced that there are no means to increase salaries to the education system.

However, in Government they say they are working in the Law on Salaries and to include the requirements of teachers there.

“Minister of Education Shyceri Bytyqi and National Coordinator for State Reform, Besimi Tahiri have had a meeting with SBASK leaders to hear their demands, as August continues its continued kidnapping with SBASK. During the day, SBASK chief Bemer Jasharaj has said he does not retreat from strikes without their demands being met.

We will not withdraw from our demands for strike. Tomorrow we enter the sixth day of strike. So we're urging the Government to reflect and meet our demands. On the contrary we will not retreat, we will continue on strike”, he has declared.

The number of workers in education, including educators and employees for whom it requires increased pay gap to 30 percent, is about 27 thousand.

The average salary of primary and middle education teachers is between 420 and 440 euros. Until, the teachers' salary at universities is over 1,000 euros.

All the frustration of teachers came after the salary increases in all public sectors until they remained with the same salaries only teachers and professors.

Government officials have the highest salary in the region. Government chief pays 3,000 euros a month. While Haradinaj's drivers have salaries of up to 700 euros.
