This is the first time a film by Kosovo is accepted in the Berlinale race, known as one of the most prestigious festivals in the world.
The film deals with two themes in parallel; the phenomenon of building the same houses and migration, which is particularly highlighted among these families. Through the characters, it portrays the relationship and solidarity between brothers; the sacrifice and determination of parents to maintain harmony within the family; the meaning and importance of the home; and the hope between return or not.
The film's author Samir Karahoda has expressed happiness that his debut film as a director has been praised by this prestigious festival: “I don't know how to describe the feeling and joy of a film assessment from a festival such as Berlinal, especially when it comes to debut film. I sincerely want to thank every protagonist without whom this film would not be possible as well as the team who devoted themselves and contributed wholeheartedly to the formation of this work. ” highlighted the Karahoda author.
IN MESS it was inspired by the photographic project “Kosovar brothers” in which Karahoda worked in 2011.
The film is an authentic product of Kosovo, both with support and production. Film producer Erroll Bilibani points out that once again this fact testifies to the creative capacities of Kosovo cinematography: “To be part of such a creative project and to work with such a professional team is indeed an honor and privilege. Even though the film at the initial stage was envisioned in experimental form, Samir through his master-language film has come to reflect the anthropological, social and architectural context of a widespread phenomenon in Kosovo. ” stress producer Bilibani.
The film is the production of the SK Pictures, supported by the Kosovo Cinematographic Centre, Bank for Business, Prizren municipality, the Pristina municipality and DokuFest.
Regia and Photo Director: Samir Karahoda, Producent: Erroll Bilibani, Montage: Enis Saraci, Dizainer Voice: Memley Kelmendi, Audio Bearer: Gezim Rama and Graphical Design: Nita Salihu Hoxha.
