The Democratic League of Kosovo militant and one of the most remarkable voices of this party, Bajram Gecaj, has shared an impression/remembering the opinion about historic President Ibrahim Rugova.
It is not known if this story of Mr. Gecaj is accurate, but he claims he witnessed a terrible moment of despair by President Rugova, where he personally addressed him with words: “Bajram, there was nothing more difficult than being president, at a time that from the window sees the entire Velania quarter empty, for ten minutes, to be alone without the people to whom you have served with devotion all your life.
That doesn't look like a statement said by Rugova, but it might have, like, happened!
This is his Facebook post:
PRESIDENT DO NOT NYIHT E V THE AY OF HOME E FIZIK!
Kosovo's historic president, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova was consulted by international friends who, after signing the Rambouillet Agreement, did not return to Kosovo. In fact, it wasn't about counseling as much as an insistence on our international friends, since his life was seriously endangered, taking into account the atrocities and the expected Serbian brutality following the determination of friends for their bombing. The late president, however, had insisted that he wanted to share his destiny with his people, regardless of the consequences. Later, after being released from house arrest, President Rugova traveled to Italy and then, for a short time, stayed in Bonn, Germany. On the day of his arrival in Bonn I had the honour of visiting him in the company of three senior officials in the Republic of Kosovo at the time. Among other things, during our conversation, I remember that today when the President told me: “Bajram, there was nothing more difficult than being president, at a time when you see from the window the whole of Velanian Quarter empty violently for ten minutes, to be left alone without the people you have served with godly devotion” These words today ring in my mind and soul as when I heard them. His face was turned yellow, as if he were without blood, with his eyes enlarged, and his eyes fixed on one place and his breath of cigarettes all the time without any tears drawn from his eyes. He wasn't crying with tears but with deep spiritual pain that he didn't hide, which was seen in the shape of outward appearance. Neither was mourning! All that was and I saw with my own eyes was the disappointment of the moment coming out of his powerlessness to strike Serbia with a handful of Migenian, what a mythic mountain that brings down monsters that come out of the sea. I've shared this event with many friends and very often. All those who have known President Rugova closely say he has been able to be shaken by life's difficulties and has not hidden the spiritual pain of general interest. However, the president's mourning was always man's oil because the president did not know the oil of physical tears!
P.S. The people in the picture are not the people who were with me at the meeting described!
