Northern Serbs awaiting important news to announce to Vuciq in Kosovo

On the eve of Serbia's president's visit, Aleksandar Vuciq to northern Kosovo, municipalities in this part of the country -- inhabited by Serb majority -- are urgently making preparations for its reception, as well as overhauling the road infrastructure. In light of the continuation of talks in Brussels and the possible final solution between Kosovo and Serbia, Serbs in northern Kosovo are waiting for what will be communicated over the next weekend, when Vuciqi's visit has been warned.
Serbia's Government Office for Kosovo chief Marko Djurovic has warned the Serbian president's visit as more comprehensive and incompatible.
Miladija Petkoviq from Northern Mitrovica says she expects much of this visit.
The president expects a lot, but we don't know what he can do for us. It's pretty hard here. For example, to secure the drugs, we have to go to the District, unfortunately. But, what to do, he's trying as hard as he can and well at this”, Petkovic said.
But, she added, hardly any solution can be reached for the current situation.
I don't want to, but it can hardly happen. Very hard. See how opposed they are to us, even our own. But he (President Vuciq) is powerful”, Petkov said.
Nemanja Missic from Northern Mitrovica says she does not expect Vuciqi's current visit to be more important than those before.
I think in essence it will be the same as the last time the president arrived, though I have heard yesterday that the deadline (for reaching agreement) was extended for 2019. So it's just getting a lot more noise and nothing more. Just stay here so we can keep the job, so we can live. Then, perhaps it will get better, step by step”, Missic said.
As warned, Serbian President Vuciq is expected to complete the visit Sunday, with an address at the rally in northern Mitrovica.
The Monastery's Igumen in Decani, Sava Janjiq, has written earlier on the social network Titter that so-called employee lists are being made in Serbian schools, which should be present at the rally on 9 September and that the order has come from an important state institution in Serbia.
Such a move, according to the head of the European Movement of Kosovo, Rada Trajkovovic, is completely, as she calls it, “Public Secretary”. Speaking to Radio Free Europe, she says, however, compared to past periods when pressure came only from Serbia's state institutions, the pressure now comes from Kosovo institutions.
“Take into account that all solutions for Quadro line through (Milan) Radoicqi (the Serbian List Vice President) from Northern Mitrovica, which contracts people's employment in Kosovo institutions, now Kosovo Serbs, on both sides, are pushed and need to respond to the task of work, which implies the mandatory presence whenever Vuciq visits Kosovo's” space, Trajkov said.
She has added that parallel lists of those who want to and those who do not want to attend meetings have been made.
The “those who refuse are allegedly threatened with layoffs, but the people, however, are showing a certain resistance even to such pressures, which are related to their existence”, Trajkovic said.
As for Kosovo institutions, Trajkovic said it is about local self-governments and their branches, responsible for the bodies of these institutions, ministries and ministers, who are in the Government of Kosovo. According to her, “through their mechanisms is subjected to pressure on the population, on returnees, and on people who receive certain additions, social, pensions and other”.
Serbian President Vuciq and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on Friday, September 7th will meet again within the Brussels dialogue. Meanwhile, two days later, on Sunday, September 9th, Vuciq will visit Kosovo, as it has been said, to talk with Serbian residents.
So far, President Thaci has sometimes declared that in Brussels he will present the initiative for correcting the border between Kosovo and Serbia, which also means uniting the Presevo Valley with Kosovo, but not even dividing or exchanging territories or autonomy for Serbs. Meanwhile, Serbian President Vuciq has declared he commits himself to setting borders with Albanians in Kosovo. /rel
