The two governments have reached an agreement on the new name, but nationalist opponents of Macedonia say the name change would harm Macedonia's ethnic identity”.
The referendum sheet asks the question: “A accept NATO and EU membership by respecting the agreement with Greece”.
Euronews writes that the State Election Commission has reported no complaints of irregularities until noon. However, only 16 percent of citizens have participated in the referendum.
