Protests called by the Vetevendosje Movement against the idea promoted by President Hashim Thaci for the correction of borders were held today. The slogan of this protest was “A people of Sʹi submit to a man”, and to some extent, an exit was created by the Romanticism and ethnonationalism where Albin Kurt's mind is trapped. The time was set to offer something new, concrete, to negotiations with Serbia. The moment was set to accept the state and its symbols, to accept liberal internationalism as its core project. To get it out of the margin, to need an economic program in the near future, damn it. People also work for 130 euros in Kosovo, and self-declared <x2-majtists” cheer the xenophobic slogans. People have discriminating salaries, they have job contracts, they have health insurance, and they have no reason for this power clientlist of the Vetevendosje Movement, yet all its protests are nationalist. And Albin Kurti, its leader, so xenophobic commends the Albanian people as the noble and most generous.
Since its foundation, Vetevendosje has not been more than a radical faction of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. [ PDK. Thaci-led party betrayed the left, anti-imperialism, anti-capitalism and nationalism stemming from the KP, while these were taken and re-articulated by the Vetevendosje Movement. The PDK had to give up the flag they fought for, which Vetevendosje took over. PDK had to give up its goal The NLA for the unification of Albanian lands, which is already designed by Vetevendosje. And, exactly Albin Kurti, the supreme leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, had reservations against NATO's intervention in Kosovo being in line with leftist thinkers and went against Vienna's negotiation process, and clearly opposed 2008 independence.
Thaci is a corrupt politician. He talks one thing, does another. He either party or his allies have usurped most public enterprises through the method that was discovered by the Pronto Court's wiretapping. They got him, as long as they caught him, even the Judiciary. But Albin Kurti has also captured a very important range of power: protest/critics against them. Any protest of his party has been nationalist. But the latter most clearly exposed the capture he has made critical of power.
In the Vetevendosje Movement protest, however, the flag of the Republic of Kosovo was reserved for all the flags of states that had recognised Kosovo as a state with this flag and borders. He was defending Kosovo's citizenship, a party that at its core and at its appointment, attacks. It was opposing the correction of borders on ethnic grounds a party that requires exactly border correction on ethnic grounds, national union.
What happens tomorrow? Nothing. Thaci remains as powerful as today and yesterday. Because the protest against him was initiated by a rumor: Thaci will be charged by the Special Court, and therefore he is being blackmailed by the EU through this trial, is trying to reach an agreement with Serbia to save himself. That may be true, but it remains a rumor. By means of this, there cannot be built a necessary element for a protest to have power and not be corrupting.
The only position in the current circumstances that would consist of the earlier position for Vetevendosje is one that only took over the Movement for the Union to their former ideological partner -- support the idea of exchanging territories.
Not one people, but no human is subject to another. They must be fair and consistent. They must have their ideals and principles. The truth is, however, that the people have decided not to be fair: to be subject to frauds like Thaci, Haradinaj, Kurti and Wessel âte, who change words more often than socks.
What is Vetevendosje's alternative to negotiations with Serbia? Where does reevaluating the negotiations process lead to? Or what if even its eventual negotiating platform was ignored by the EU?
The truth is that a large part of people within opposition parties have very good social status, and privileges they do not intend to give up.
