Blakay's farewell letter to colleagues: He doesn't mention threats, that's why he quit.

Former prosecutor Elez Blakaj has written his colleagues a letter of thanks, informing them of the reasons for resigning. There, it shows there have been no threats, but that the career will continue both outside and inside Kosovo, but no longer as part of the prosecutorial system.

Blakaj, in this letter he has not mentioned any threats or pressure, but has shown that from now on his career will be continued mainly in the country. In this letter, specifically addressed to Special Prosecutor Reshat Milaku's chief prosecutor, he has indicated that on July 11th of this year he has handed over the indictment in the veterans' case.

Blakaj, in this letter, has suggested that the reasons for his resignation involve his future, not any threat to his and his family's lives.

Honored “, chief prosecutor Millaku, informs you that since the 13th. 08. 2018 I will not be part of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, which I have actually warned you about 5 weeks ago”, writes at the entrance of the letter in which it is confirmed that since five weeks earlier the prosecution had warned him of his departure.

Blakaj, as special prosecutor, has pledged that his commitment will continue in the interest of the country and justice.

The honoured “colleagues and chief prosecutor, for me, has been an extraordinary honour to exercise the duty of the state prosecutor and to be part of the most important institution of the Republic of Kosovo ʹ State Prosecutor, in particular in recent years as part of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, despite the numerous challenges of”, Blakaj wrote.

From now on, my professional activity will continue outside the prosecutorial system, both inside and abroad, always in the interest of fundamental principles for a system of integrity justice”, continues the letter!

He has thanked colleagues for their cooperation over the years, in particular for the veterans' case.

I want to thank you all the colleagues we've been working with all these years, highly praising the assistance of collaborators and legal officials. The importance of co-operation, in particular, is to mention co-operation and the inseparable assistance of some of my colleagues in the last 10 months, in one of the most dynamic and complex cases called the Vetranus Case, in which, from July 11, 2018, I have forwarded to Chief Millaku<18>, writes Blakay.

Blakaj, already expelled from the prosecution, has not yet provided an answer to the public for the real reasons for his resignation. In a letter to colleagues, it does not show any threat or pressure, except that the career will continue abroad with the prosecutorial system, citing the departure from Kosovo.
