Thaci for dialogue: Only deal we accept would result in recognition of Kosovo by Serbia

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, yesterday's meeting with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has called it the worst of the last ten years of dialogue between the two countries. He has said that the positions of Serbia and Kosovo on the final agreement are extremely different, and says the process [...]
He has said that the positions of Serbia and Kosovo on the final agreement are extremely opposed, and says the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is in a very delicate and difficult phase.
Thaci has said that the solution for Kosovo would only be reaching a final agreement, which would result in recognition of Kosovo by Serbia, and no other interim agreement would be acceptable.
He has said that if no agreements are reached, then various anti-European policies would exploit this situation to work against European values.
In his address, Thaci has hinted that there may also be tension in Kosovo, saying he hopes in the coming days there will be no incident.
Thaci's full word:
We as host institutions have been together in Brussels. We have been meeting Moghrin, we have talked about visas, but we have all uniquely presented Kosovo's position that we are in favour of negotiations with Serbia, but also our commitment that this process should be completed with the formal recognition of Kosovo from Serbia.
All are aware that building good neighbourly relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and rapport recognition, brings peace to the entire Western Balkan region.
Yesterday at the meeting between the presidents of both countries, it is an assessment that despite complicated difficulties and situations, despite the major differences we have in the process, and the difficulties we have seen unoverdue, there is still the will for this process to continue, and in the coming months the final agreement will be reached for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
Yesterday's meeting has been the shortest in the last ten years, but the hardest and most difficult.
It is not easy to talk to the Serb, Aleksandar Vucic, who still thinks Kosovo is part of Serbia, a Serbian parent.
It is not easy to talk to a president who thinks Kosovo is Serbia's heart.
It means the positions are too far apart.
This position of Vuchy is far from reality. But as leaders, I have a responsibility to clear up the opinio.
No agreement that is temporary makes no sense, but a final agreement aimed at mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia, and Kosovo's integration into all international institutions.
Kosovo has always come to this stage making deals. This situation is not understood as a battle to defeat one another, Kosovo Serbia. But be a deal that will be useful for both countries.
Then there is membership in NATO and the EU.
Yesterday we suggested we should work on the deal, because it's in the interest of our two countries and peoples, and we have to sacrifice to reach the final agreement. Let us not fall prey to the populist voices of daily politics.
Both presidents are aware that continued status quo shows there are still risks of destabilisation.
We have found that we will negotiate with all these difficulties, rather than an incident, whether Albanian or Serbian, takes place.
I know there are critical voices from all sides, but the deal is in everybody's interest.
In the coming weeks and months, I see that we will have major obstacles with Serbia's authorities, but at the same time I hope for a solution, because we have the dedication of the EU and the US, so that the coming days and weeks pass without problems, without any concern, without any incident, and continue the process in consistent steps until the reach of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement.
If no agreement is reached, then non-Western ideologies will have space, and will exploit the Euro-Atlantic values created. /Periscopi/
