Parliament has approved the law by 62 votes to and 55 against, which Jews define in Jewish language by building a community based on national interests, said “Al Jazeera”, the Periscopi broadcast.
The bill also removes Arabic from its use as an official language, lowering it to a particular “state” that it has more space within Israeli institutions.
This stipulates that “Israel is a historic place of the Jewish people and they have exclusive rights for self-rule as a nation”. It is also said that the state has established Jerusalem as its capital.
“This is a defining moment in the anals of Zionism and in the history of the state of Israel”, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Palestinian members of the Israeli parliament condemned the bill.
One of the lawmakers, Ahmed Tibi, said “, declared the death of democracy” in shock and grief./Periscopi/
