England has advanced to the quarterfinals phase at the “Russia-1818x1> after twelve years of impasse.

And the mind behind this success of England is that of the coach who has achieved nothing in his career in this craft, Gareth Southgate. But who really is Southgate, the most important man in English football?

Southgate is a coach who took England's lead after the FA selected scandal, Sam Allerdyce. Gareth had been just a simple assistant who in the past had led the U-21 national, writes Periscope.

From his preliminary career, the Southgate had made his career quite good by becoming coach of the team that was then playing at Premier League, Midlesbrough. But after two relatively successful seasons (2006-2008) his team had fallen by the elite league. Since then, the Riverside Stadium team has failed to return to the strongest league in the world.

This stain had made Southgate's next career a top coach. He could have managed, as we said, only his country's U-21st, but without much success. Of the 206 matches as a manager, he has an average of 40.8 percent of the victories mostly thanks to England U-21, where he had 81.8.

If England is only in the semifinals, the Southgates will resume careers and from zero to hero. It would probably continue contracting with the national, but it would also come in offers from important European clubs.

As a football player, Southgate had a much more glorious career. He started his career at Crystal Palace, where after seven years he had made 152 games and 15 goals playing defensively. The career peak was reached when he signed for the then elite club Aston Villa, the moment his career with England began. For Villan, he played six years, with nearly two hundred presentations. Meanwhile, for his country he played for nine years, with 57 matches.

His career was completed at Midlesbrough, where he became captain and later the coach of this team. /Periscopi
