FIBA membership of the Kosovo Basketball Federation has enabled our young people to participate in more than 18 international contests, marking good results and now becoming the host of an international organisation. This is a great success for Kosovo and has been achieved thanks to basketball talent and dedication.
So said Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, after hosting a delegation of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), led by the incumbent director Kamil Novak and Arben Fetah, chairman of the Kosovo Basketball Federation.
Prime Minister Haradinaj has in this case announced Novak's dedication and investment of the Government of Kosovo in improving sports infrastructure in Kosovo, so that young people and athletes will have the opportunity to exercise their sports activities.
We have arrived since 19 years of prolongation and defeat, the Youth Palace, to Pristina, its citizen, sportsmen and artists. Our athletes, aside from basketball players, now have this space, which, thanks to the new statute resolved, will be able to receive necessary investments to create even better conditions for the development of sports”, Prime Minister Haradinaj added.
Haradinaj has thanked FBA and Kosovo Basketball Federation representatives for organising the FIBA U18 European Championship in Kosovo, saying sports events like these are important not only for basketball, but for sports in general.
Kosovo membership in FIBA, according to Prime Minister Haradinaj, has enabled our basketball players to compete and be a direct part of the competition of different age groups.
Meanwhile, FIBA Executive Director Kamil Novak said the purpose of the visit is to look closely at FIBA organising the U18 European Championships, Division C, which is under way in Pristina and to confirm FIBA support for the Kosovo Basketball Federation.
