The retired diplomat, while returning home, was bleeding, with a swollen eye and broken nose.
Sir Christopher's wife, Baroness Mayer, said she doesn't remember the attack, but police believe the couple might have wanted to steal it.
I'm absolutely shocked by the level of brutality. It's terrible, something like that you can see in a war zone”, she said.
