So far, the island economy has gained an increase of 1.33 billion pounds, and that amount can grow to 2.72 billion pounds if the “Three lions --” -- reach the finals.
These are the figures published by “VowcherCodes” and the Centre for Retail Market Studies (CRR).
Night bars (subs), restaurants and other clubs are expected to be on the first line of benefits from possible successful performance at the English World Cup, as 193 million pounds are estimated to be spent on customers who sit alone to watch tournament matches -- a sum that could amount to 488 million pounds if England goes to the finals.
This figure is supported by another study of 2,000 British - grown citizens, undertaken by “Opinium and VoucherCodes”, which reveals that a quarter of Britain's population spends money on alcohol primarily alcoholics, during the tour, as they watch England's games at huge - screens available.
Although many people go to pubs, clubs or cafes to watch the matches, figures show that most British people -- 86% -- planned to watch the tournament from home.
The very ones staying at home are estimated to spend 240 million pounds on food and 297 million pounds on alcoholic beverages, if England goes up to the 1/8 round, up to 1.12 billion pounds if it reaches the finals.
They are also believed to have spent 37 million pounds on preparing their home gardens environments, or on increasing capacities to host friends or family members -- a figure that could increase by 62 million pounds if England reaches the Moscow final.
