Justice is essential for women and men who are violated during the war, as they continue to face major problems.
So says Feride Rushiti, who has received the award from the American State Department as “Brave woman”.
Rushiti says there are those families that threaten the survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, so they don't tell the truth.
It's very important that these difficulties, this social prejudice that has our Kosovo culture, could be addressed through conscious campaigns, whether through various means of communication, whether through your media just consciously, that these women and girls who have experienced the horrors of war should not be blamed for a crime that does not belong to them”, says the public television, Feride Rushiti, the head of the Kosovar Centre for Survivors of Torture.
Rushiti says that even society has been prejudiced and isolated for years so as not to have a normal life after that crime on their bodies. According to her, for victims of sexual violence during the war to have spiritual tranquillity, punishment for the perpetrators is necessary.
“I think that access to justice for this sensitive social group is more than necessary when so far not even a single person, a boss of crime has received no deserved punishment even for these women, girls and men that they are not women and the girl unfortunately cannot be found spiritual peace when they know that the bully may be in society or may be anywhere near that”, she says.
The Brave Woman” says that the reason she chose to address the rights of this category was to create a safe environment for women and men who experienced this kind of violence during the war.
Costing this price to all victims of sexual and domestic violence, she explains that at this price the agenda of women raped during the war in Kosovo has been placed at the international level.
