Sports giants Nike have drawn their shoe supply to the Iranian team due to new sanctions imposed by America following the withdrawal of the nuclear deal, leaving Iran's players in large dilemmas.
In May, President Donald Trump announced that the US will withdraw from the nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers and promised to re-establish the economic sanctions which were re-evaluated in 2015, when the agreement was signed, “Dayil” reported, the Periscope broadcast.
As a result, many companies have decided to suspend their relations with the Middle East country, where Nike is among the largest to have respected US sanctions.
The US “Sandions mean that, as an American company, Nike cannot supply shoe players from Iran's national team at this time”, the national team said in a statement.
Nike's actions, in line with US sanctions, have been greeted with outrage by many Iranians. An online campaign has since emerged, with Iranians trying to boycott Nike products with the use of hashtag #notic.
From Iran's first team, Ramin Rezaean, Alirez Yahanbakhsh, Mohammad Ansari Said Ezatolahi, Vahi Amir, Milad Mohammad and Ashkan Dejagah are all users of Nike brand football shoes. But, it's suspected that those crews were bought at Russian sports stores./Periscopi/
