The former captain of Spain and Barcelona's national team, Charles Puyol, has confirmed that Italian television officials have not allowed him to appear as World Cup commentator because of long hair.
Iranian officials have denied the Spanish claim, the AP reports.
The newspaper “I'm I'm”, sister of this television, quoted the government TV official, Morteza Mirbagher, saying the matter was in the money not the hair.
There is no need for a foreign figure to receive several hundred million Iranian rials for a few minutes on the” sports programme, Mortesa said.
Puyol was invited to appear in a special sports programme for the 2018 World Cup on Wednesday during the Iran-Spanja meeting, alongside famous programme leader Adel Ferdoshur.
Iranian website Entekhab.ir quoted Puyol as saying he had gone to Iran but was not allowed to appear on the programme because of his long curly hair.
