Serbia's Minister of Innovation and Technological Development, Nenad Popovic, estimates that the upcoming meeting of Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Russian President Vladimir Putin, a day after the inauguration of the latter, is important and shows that they have an excellent relationship, but also an indicator of the great importance Russia costs to Serbia.
He said the topic of talks at this meeting will be Kosovo.
“Vucciq has had to be on Putin's inauguration, but due to the earlier scheduled meeting with Turkey's President, Erdogan, he cannot participate, but it is a big thing that immediately after the inauguration, will take part in Victory Day, and will be together with President Putin”, Popovic told Serbian state television. RTS, wiretaps.
According to him, the inevitable topic the two presidents will discuss will be Serbia's territorial integrity in connection with the Kosovo issue.
As expected, one of the meeting topics should be the goal of the United Kingdom to take the initiative to keep the UN Security Council meetings for Kosovo closed.
Britain next month will take over the chairmanship of the UN Security Council, while Popovic points out that this idea will not pass near Russian veto, which will happen if Serbia asks for that.
“Putin at last meeting, when we were in the Kremlin, expressed readiness to fully support the Republic of Serbia on all issues related to Kosovo, even to engage in the negotiation process if Serbia requires it. But it is important to say that Serbia at all meetings
International platforms should talk about Kosovo. Keep this issue always open, and the UN Security Council is the right place for this”, Popovic said.
He recalled that Putin has been very helpful to Serbia in the past 18 years, noting his contribution to preventing the removal of Resolution 1244, and vetoing the effort to declare Serbs as a genocide nation.
