The initiative of the Parliament's deputies to draft the Media draft law has alarmed the journalists' community.
This initiative by MPs, without consulting journalists in advance, is seen as a policy tendency for media access, KTV reports.
Journalists and journalists' Association representatives have voiced concerns about the failure to implement current laws related to media work.
On the other hand, media drafter Nat Hasani says there are many reasons why Kosovo should have media law.
Hasani cites several EU states models for this law, Italy and Germany.
The Kusari butterfly, a media-right lawyer, says there must initially be public debate and legal analysis regarding whether it needs to be drafted the media law rather than arbitraryly imposed.
In 2012, the PDK-led government had attempted to criminalise insult and slander. But after numerous reactions and protests organised by journalists and civil society, those articles were removed from the Kosovo Criminal Code.
