Jerusalem, US Embassy opens; 41 Palestinians killed by bloody conflict

A massive effort by Palestinians to cross border sieges separating Israel from Gaza soon turned into violent scenes as Israeli soldiers responded fervently. Monday returned very quickly to the single bloodiest day since the launch of the demonstration campaign about 7 weeks ago, for [...]
Tens of thousands of Palestinians took part in the protests in Gaza, which spread to the West Coast on this Monday, in opposition to the American Embassy's shift from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
By 4:30 p.m., 41 Palestinians, including several teenagers, were killed, while another 1,700 were injured in Gaza according to the Ministry of Health, turning them on Monday to the bloodiest day of the last weeks of demonstrations.
Israeli soldiers and snipers used all available means to keep protesters away from Israeli territory.
The Jewish army claimed that some in the crowds have also mounted explosives, while others have dropped Molotov bombs toward Israel. Outside the town of Nahal Oz kibbutz, emergency workers rushed to extinguish a powerful fire caused by flamethrowers.
After noon, protests near the city of Gaza turned into a battlefield, a chaotic view of smoke, alarm sirens, and tear gas covering nearly the entire perimeter around the border.
Thousands of protesters flocked to the barriers. The Israelites responded with ambushes, tear gas, and gunfire.
All the action began at noon, when popular crowds in just a few meters away gathered very close together. The protest was often led by women dressed in black, with Palestinian flags in their hands.
The whole event came as American and Israeli officials prepared to celebrate Donald Trump's promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Many Israelites view this as recognition that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, while Palestinians, who claim that the eastern part of the city will be the capital of the future state of Palestine, view it simply as a depreciation of America's mediating role in the future of the region.
The embassy opened at 1600 with that local, with the participation of US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, President Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kouchner, among many other prominent figures, as well as a contingent of republican lawmakers.
Displacement in Jerusalem reflects also the close alliance between Trump and Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyah.
