Kosovo celebrates Britain's Queen Elizabeth's birthday

At a solemn ceremony organised by Britain's United Kingdom Embassy, diplomatic representatives, local leaders and civil society in Pristina are marking Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday of Great Britain.

On this occasion, in the opening address of the ceremony British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairí O'Connell has stressed that the friendship between Britain and Kosovo is a lasting friendship.

The ambassador has also cited state co-operation that represents with security institutions as with the Kosovo Security Force, whose cadets are trained and given excellent performance during their schooling in Britain.

While State President Hashim Thaci said in a joint address with British Ambassador he said that holidays like him today bring to the attention the good and positive things Kosovo has with Britain.

Allow me to confirm once again the special and excellent relations between Kosovo and Great Britain. We are happy that on our journey to freedom and equality, we have supporters like Britain”, Thaci said.

Gratitude for this support, Thaci said Kosovo expresses it with permanent commitment to lasting peace, stability and rule of law and prosperity throughout the world.

However, he said Kosovo's work is not finished and that the values it presents today and have also been protected by its partners are again attacked. He referred to a statement by British Prime Minister Theresa May when he spoke of Kosovo's war, calling it a clean war and said it's a happy “that our friends remain persistent in protecting these” values.

As in 1999 our war has been moral and legal, we are determined together to protect our society, our co-existence, our cooperation and tolerance. This will forever maintain the friendship between Kosovo and Britain”, Thaci said completely at the end when he invited those present to toast Queen Elizabeth and to wish her long life and health, just as friendship between Britain and Kosovo.
