On the eve of the start of Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias' Balkan tour, Greek media, calling to informed sources, report that the Greek government is ready to enable the opening of Kosovo's diplomatic office in Athens. Thus writes the Serbian daily “Politika”, while adding that Kotzias, who today launches his Balkan tour, originally in Belgrade, and then in Pristina and Skopje, is aiming for mediation in the reports between Kosovo and Serbia, but is also considering the diplomatic benefit from the opening of the Kosovo diplomatic office in Athens, Kohanet broadcast.
However, Athens, as writes “Politika” referring to Greek media, is unhappy with some actions of the Kosovo government, especially with the arrest of Marko Djurici and the “Rlights” that enabled Turkey, released by Kosovo by six Turkish citizens, so-called gylenists.
The chief of Greek diplomacy, on his visit to Belgrade, is expected to talk with Serbian officials about opening this diplomatic office.
The Greek newspaper “Protothema”, as Koha.net broadcasts, writes that Kotzias' visit to Kosovo is of great diplomatic importance, in the sense that he is trying to remove the traditional Turkish strong influence in Kosovo and create conditions to draw Athens close to Pristina.
“Although Greece has not recognised Kosovo, Nikos Kotzias' visit has a positive message to this level as well. It's at the same time a goodwill movement to Tirana”, writes “Protothema”.
Meanwhile, the biggest focus will be on his visit to Ohrid.
According to reports, Kotzias, along with Macedonian counterpart Dimitrov, will conclude the agreement on resolving the name issue, which will then be signed by the respective prime ministers.
