According to them, worker safety is an issue that needs to be resolved.
“GDP considers that the workers' situation in our country is too serious. In the last year alone, there are six workers who have found death at the workplace, for whom no institutional responsibility has been granted. While job security remains an unresolved issue, talking about the continued risk of workers' lives”, GDP response reported.
Low wages and the lack of contracts for private sector workers is another very disturbing problem.
Apart from the lack of security in the workplace, workers in Kosovo face other daily difficulties in the workplace, especially those in the private sector. Low wages and lack of contracts, then short-term contracts are the most notable manifestation of the exploitation of workers, often denied even union organisation”, writes Periscope.
GDP says it is reasonable for BSPK's demands.
GDP views requirements from BSPK as necessary for implementation of collective laws and contracts, job safety, recognition of the work experience for the 1990s-99s, and health insurance. Trueing these requirements is necessary, so May Day must be a day of protest against daily injustices that characterise the worker's life and a powerful call for meeting these right and urgent demands.
In this case, on International Work Day we call for all citizens to participate in tomorrow's rally, which starts at 11:00, from the “Zahir Pajaziti Square.
