The Special takes the next step, accredits 40 lawyers who will represent the accused and the victims

According to a report sent by the Special Court, the list contains 40 lawyers.

The “Lists contain the names of 40 lawyers who have been admitted to the Protection Lists and can already represent suspects, accused, one group of victims or anyone else who enjoys the right to legal representation in procedures before the Specialised Chambers”, the court reports.

The head of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers, Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova, has stated that she expects the accredited lawyers to represent professional contacts in front of the Specialised Chambers.

I congratulate all lawyers who have already been admitted to the Defense Lists. The strict conditions for admission to the Protection List provide effective and professional legal representation in front of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers for the accused and victims, thus making a contribution to the integrity of justice management by the Specialised Chambers”, Trendafilova has exploded.

A lead in the Special Report, said since November 2017, the Office of Defence and the Office of Victims Attendance have received numerous requests.

“Endorsing requirements and the process of accepting defenders has been conducted systematically, equal to all candidates, and in line with the Book for Protectors and Accession Criteria set out in this directive. The names of all the currently accepted defenders are on the table on the Kosovo Specialised Chambers website on the Internet”, said the report.

The Defense Lists will be currentised next. Following the evaluation process, other candidates will be accepted on the Protection Lists, which means the process remains open.
