As harsh rhetoric between Greece and Turkey follows for a series of problems that have rescheduled on the surface, the head of the Hellen state has been very firm today against Turkish counterpart.
During a visit to Salamis naval base, Prokopis Pavlopoulos responded to Turkey's President Erdogan's claims on the Luzana Treaty of the early years of HINA20, which determines the status of islands in the Aegean, writes Albeu.com.
“We are here to live together peacefully and help our neighbours become part of the EU. Those who declare that the Luzana Treaty does not exist or that it should be seen are completely ignorant in history and international law”, Pavlopoulos said, responding directly to President Erdogan, who said a few days ago that the Ljubljana Treaty should be revised.
Lucana's Treaty was signed in the early years of the '20s between European powers and Turkey, envisioning the status of Aegean islands as well as Western thracian.
Turkey claims that the status of part of the Aegean islands is still “gri” and should be revised between the two countries by making changes to the treaty.
