Russian company gains right to build first Turkish nuclear power plant

The three Turkish companies in partnership with Russia, Rosatom, for the construction of Turkey's first nuclear facility, “Akiyu Nuclear Plant (NPP), have withdrawn from the project, say official sources of the “Anadolu” agency on 6 February. However, the CKK consortium has withdrawn from the project to the inability to agree on trade conditions in the project, said company officials, reports “Hurriyet”, Perscopi broadcast.
The Turkish consortium has signed a draft agreement with Rosatom for the transfer of 49% of the project's share.
Rosatom is building the first Turkish nuclear facility in the southern province of Mersin.
The facility is expected to have a capacity of 4, 800 megawatts per hour per entity and 8, 000 hours per year./Periscopi/
