KDI had applied for access to public documents on January 13, 2017 The CEC, respectively, has asked for “access to financial reports and reports of spending by some political parties for 2015: PDK, LDK, LVV, LS, AAK, NISMA”.
After passing the legal deadline for returning the CEC's response, KDI has been addressed to the ombudsman with the Ankee for not allowing access to public documents under the legal deadline.
The ombudsman through letter of recommendation for the CEC gives KDI access to requested documents and recommended to the CEC to provide this approach to KDI.
The CEC, after this recommendation under the Law for the Ombudsman, has a 30-day deadline to meet the Ombudsman's recommendation and announce it by the actions taken.
KDI considers that despite the fact that the CEC has published online financial and auditing reports of political parties, there is no clear reflection of political party spending and revenues. Therefore, KDI's request for access to financial reports and spending of some parties for 2015 continues to be reasonable.
