The recent drop in tension, anchored by South Korea's reception for the Winter Olympic Games that began Friday, came despite an acceleration in the enrichment of nuclear weapons from the north last year and pressure from Seoul's allies.
The personal invitation from Kim was announced by his younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, during a lunch organised at the presidential house in Seoul, reports “Reuters”, the Periscope broadcast.
Kim Jong Un wants to meet Moon “in an early date”, while Moon said “tow the conditions to make it happen”, presidential house spokesman Kim Eui-kyom said.
The presidential house said Moon “realistically accepted the” invitation to visit the jinn.
“We'd like to meet you at an early time in Pyongyang,” said Kim Yo Jong for Moon at lunch, according to another presidential house official.
The prospect of bilateral talks between the choirs, however, cannot be welcomed by the United States.
Washington has followed a strategy for exercising maximum pressure on jinn through severe sanctions and harsh rhetoric, demanding that it give up using nuclear weapons./Periscopi/
