At the opening of the 7th General Election Assembly in the Albanian Football Federation, President Armand Duka said decisions are made today for the ongoing fates of Albanian football.
“Must win football. Together we can advance progress so far. I firmly believe that this assembly will give even greater impetus to our ambitions. Today, decisions are made for the following fates of Albanian football”, Duka said.
Armand Duka, the current president of the FSHF, will be one of the candidates and will be Socialist Party deputy, Union Fino, and former football host, Salvation Halo.
The new president is elected by 2/3th of the vote, and in case of a run-off, then the simple majority (50%+1) will be enough to declare the president.
Since the time in the Albanian Football Federation, the governing bodies are not directly elected by politics, only once the election process has passed in the runoff. It's about 2002, when he was first elected at the helm of the FSF, Armand Duka, who had to cross the runoff to defeat his rival Mehdi Bushati.
But if in past elections the current president was elected with mere applause, as there were no rivals, in this campaign, the race has been strong. Candidate politician Fino's status has brought charges by his rival Duka for political interference, but U n EFA and FIFA have repeatedly demanded that the process be maintained by the sports regulation.
Even so, the two largest European and world football bodies have brought their representatives Tuesday afternoon to attend the Electoral Assembly and, as they say, wish to see a democratic election process.
Meanwhile, following the completion of the election process for president, voting for the 9-nation Executive Committee will take place in Assembly, and 23 candidates are in competition for those countries.
