On the UN Security Council, President Thaci has said Kosovo remains committed to peace and dialogue with Serbia.
To that end, he has said the Kosovo Assembly last week adopted the resolution on dialogue and the structure of the negotiating team, with positions of involvement and civil society.
As long as we don't have a final and implemented agreement, such situations will be repeated over and over again. Me and the people of Kosovo do not support the conflict. In fact, we have never caused any conflict in our history. We've always been victims.
We've always fought for survival. Peace does not mean a lack of disagreement, but this violent cycle must end. So it is my generation's duty to leave behind a region without conflict, a region in lasting peace. A functional Balkans in which Kosovo and Serbia, like two independent countries, aspire to the European future”, Thaci has said.
He added that he knows very well that building peace for leaders is much more challenging and even more dangerous than making war, but peace is our obligation to our children and to the generations that follow.
We owe them a future without conflict. Kosovo is ready. We're ready for dialogue.
We are ready for difficult decisions. But we are also aware that if we do not exploit this historic moment, all parties involved will suffer, Thaci said.
