One of the reasons for the start of the Parliamentary Investigative Commission's work concerning lobby funds has been the letter sent by lawyer Geoffrey Nice towards the Government of Kosovo, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's cabinet chief, Avni Arifit, respectively.
In question, Nice indicates that during 2015 he was contacted by Petrit Selimi, former deputy minister of foreign affairs and has been asked whether “would work for the Kosovo Government”.
“Z. Nice, through letter in question, indicates that he has agreed to the financial conditions presented by Deputy Foreign Minister Selimi. Mr. Nice, through the same letter to the Government of Kosovo, tells of the jobs done towards the Government of Kosovo. Among other things, it shows that as part of the commitment in question, I assisted Hashim Thaci's biography writers. During the letter, Mr. Nice shows that he has been paid by the Government of Kosovo and that at some point, the payments to him and his team have been cut off”, says the report by the Parliamentary Investigative Commission on Observation Costs for the presidency and Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Koha.net reports.
