Kosovo historian elected member of country Academy that does not recognise Kosovo

Muhamed Mufaku has been elected foreign member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Academy of Sciences and Arts. The decision for Kosovo historian to join this institution has been made in the Assembly held Thursday. Therefore, Muffaku became the 21st foreign member of this academy, along with internationally recognised figures, writes Koha Ditore today.
According to the Human Science Department report, Mufaku was selected because of his contribution to Balkan studies published in the Middle East during his stay in Jordan (1989-2018) as professor of new history, including five books on Bosnian cultural history during Ottoman rule and the former Yugoslavia, as well as some studies published in scientific magazines.
Muhammad Mufaku was born in Damascus in 1952. He graduated from the University of Damascus in Arabic language and literature, while the magistrate and doctorate in comparable literature and history protected them at Pristina University, where he legalized them until 1987. That year he was expelled from Kosovo by Slobodan Milosevic's regime. Then he legalized at the University of Jermuk, Irbit, Jordan. He was director of the “institute. The House of Wisdom” and also professor at Al-Bate University in the town of Mafrak in Jordan, until his retirement this year. He specializes in the history and literature of Balkan peoples.
During his stay in Jordan, Muffaku was also elected a member of the Arab Academy in Damascus, which has a one - century history. In 2010, he was elected foreign member of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts, and in 2012 he was honoured with the Medal of the Republic of Merit given by the president of Kosovo. In October 2018 he was elected director of the Institute for Oriental Studies in Pristina.
