The government of the Republic of Kosovo has congratulated Kosovo's citizens following the adoption of the Parliament of three bills, the Security Force Bill, the Service Bill on the KSF and the Defence Ministry Bill.
Remembering and honoring all the men and women who made great sacrifices for our freedom and state and expressing gratitude for NATO's mission, KFOR, all troops of the Allied countries: The US, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, of all those countries that served peace in Kosovo, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo emphasises that today the path to the full and internal state consolidation of the Republic of Kosovo is being crowned.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo considers that with the adoption of the Kosovo Security Force Bill we define competencies, organisation and functioning of KSF, as multiethnic, professional, armed and authorised to serve in the country and abroad, in accordance with the given constitutional and legal mandate in defence of territorial integrity, citizens, property and interests of the Republic of Kosovo, and subject to democratic civilian control. Likewise, with the adoption of the KSF Service Bill on Service, we adjust the general terms of the KSF service as a service built on the basis of the principle of legitimacy, professionalism, command, discipline, respect, information preservation, communication, not discrimination and equal opportunities, political impartiality, transparency and accountability; with the adoption of the Defence Ministry's Bill, we re-organize and pass from the KSF Ministry to the Ministry of Defence, with the purpose of oversight and democratic civil control over the FSK with its organisational structure providing for the full functioning and responsibility of its ministers. The government of the Republic of Kosovo estimates that Kosovo's right to the military, a multiethnic and professional force built under NATO's highest standards stems from sacrifice and freedom, from state rights, from sovereign, civic will to protect and promote pro-Western values in Kosovo and beyond. Kosovo is NATO and NATO is Kosovo. No one can doubt that. Along with the allies, NATO will only be in service of democracy, security, peace and development in Kosovo, the region and wherever it is required”, the Government's statement said.
