The European Union has insisted today on lifting tariffs imposed by Pristina on Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, calling on Pristina authorities to continue implementing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
“The EU underlines the importance of continued and effective implementation of the SAA, as well as other contractual obligations, including trade and customs. The EU laments Pristina authorities' unilateral decision to raise tariffs on imports from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and urgently insists on removing them”, the EU Council's statement broadcasts news.
The EU Council stresses that introduction of tariffs is harmful to Kosovo's economic interests, as well as reducing the flow of trade.
Furthermore, the EU has called for all Brussels agreements to be met.
All dialogue agreements must be implemented without further delays, especially the agreement to establish the Association of Serbian municipalities”.
On the issue of visa liberalisation, the EU Council and the European Parliament are said to consider the European Commission's report on meeting the remaining conditions.
It is noteworthy that the country's prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, has refused to lift the 100 per cent tax, and because of differences between the two sides, no media conference has been held.
