Hashim Thaci dismissed Alma Laman from the ambassadorial post two years after appointment. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told Express that it was dismissed after presenting Kosovo as an Islamic country. Lama as a counterconjudicion to this, has published an interview in Italian, where she has shown that Kosovo is a secular state and fought religious extremism, and is not religious.
Alma Lama, Kosovo's ambassador to Italy, who was fired by President Hashim Thaci earlier this week, has issued no statements about its removal from the diplomatic mission.
“I think that presenting Kosovo's image as a radicalised country, as some non-professional media or as Belgrade propaganda does, is harmful and far from the truth”, Lama said in an interview in June of this year.
She has said that Kosovo is a secular country, not an Islamic one, in the questions of the journalist addressing Kosovo Islamic state in the heart of Europe, the Express broadcasts.
“Initially, Kosovo is not an Islamic state, but a secular state in which freedom of religion is respected in any other democratic state. Kosovo has the most modern constitution in Europe when it comes to freedom and human rights and the care of minorities”.
The majority of the population belong to modern Islam, but like other European states, Kosovo is secular. Each label as Islamic states is wrong”, Kosovo's fired ambassador to Italy had added further.
Lama in this interview was asked about religious extremism in Kosovo. In her response, she admits that this phenomenon is present at home. But it says this is the result of a country that has been out of war not long.
This is a post-war phenomenon when so-called humanitarian organisations entered Kosovo and some of them had religious agendas. It is important to note that he has responded strongly to dangerous explorers. Some were arrested”, Lamaj said.
While Lama has denied having jihadists training centres in Kosovo, only saying there have been some individuals who have gone to Syria at the start of the war there.
Otherwise, the Express newspaper published yesterday an article on the appointment of Lama ambassador two years ago. Lama was accused by the opposition and by anyone else who conveyed political events, that she has given the vote to elect Thaci president in exchange for the post.
After Thaci had been elected president in February 2016, former LDK deputy several months later had been accommodated in Rome, where she began her new post as ambassador.
On Tuesday, the presidency announced that Thaci has signed the decree for the dismissal of Lama, and now ambassador to Italy will be Beauty Gjonabalaj, who had previously served as ambassador.
