Serbian Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication Minister Rasim Ljajic has called for the European Commission's reaction following Kosovo's decision to raise the tax on goods imported from Serbia.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic, also Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication, has said Belgrade expects the European Commission to put under pressure Pristina institutions for cutting the 10 per cent tax on goods imported from Serbia.
He has added that the alternative to this is the removal of Kosovo from the CEFTA agreement.
You can't sit at a table where the same rules apply to the other partners, and for you there are special rules. Even the states that are at war between themselves do not violate the rules in such drastic measures”, Ljajic told Serbian media, broadcast news.
“If the European Commission urgently does not react, then I think that the CEFTA agreement and all that we have done in forming common economic space will fall to water”, he added.
Ljajic has said Belgrade cannot raise the tax in a similar way, since it has few goods bought from Kosovo.
The “would be pointless to have such goals, in addition to that, we make purchases from Serbian producers living in Kosovo”, Ljajic stressed.
