Qalaj has said police have handled this case in the best possible way and that there has been no tendency to keep it secret.
I'm sorry that this case has been widely discussed in the media and in people from different perspectives. What I can say as director of the Police is that the case is handled in the best way possible. We don't publicize these cases. Ours is to examine, get statements and manage it properly. We put these cases in the daily report. There was a tendency to hide it”, Qalaj said.
He has also talked about launching investigations into police officials who allegedly revealed this information to the media.
“The picture was from our information system. All the notes in that system are classified and no one has the right to extract information that is classified. We're not talking about content, but about the part of the report that appeared in the media”, Qalaj said.
According to him, this is not the first time police have investigated officials who have published such classified information.
We've had access to information like this before, and not only police officials but also superiors have been suspended, following suspicions that they have published information unauthorizedly. Kosovo police guarantee that even the case in question has been handled in the best possible way. Criminal call was sent to the Prosecutor's Office a week after the case happened. This is a time period for handling cases for people who have not been arrested. We had normal procedure. The prosecutor has decided that persons will be released”, he said./ P ERISCOPIA
