The American ambassador has said Serbia's institutions should not refer to Kosovo as the so-called “state” but as the “state”> because Kosovo has its own institutions and knows America.
Scott has made these statements by responding to Serbian journalists' question whether there is a hope for a peace agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, following the signing of a Memorandum Co-operation between the Government of Serbia and the American company “Bechtel” for the construction of the highway known as “Commander X” or “Chordor Mora<5>.
Kosovoers have chosen their representatives and we have contacts with them like with any other independent state in the region, and I think it should not be called a so-called state but an independent state”, Scott said before the media in Serbia.
And the Serbian president who has not been present at this news conference has reacted immediately to the media in Serbia, saying the US ambassador would have to show some respect for Serbia, the place he serves.
Whatever Kosovo is for the United States, for us it is a so-called state. So I think that the American ambassador would have to show some respect for Serbia and its stance regarding Kosovo”, Vuciq said.
However, the Serbian president has said Serbia will continue to have relations with the US even after this statement.
