32 out of 10,000 Durres residents have fallen prey to domestic violence during 2017. INSTAT data shows that the coastal circuit has 11 cases above the national average. Lawyers say gambling and betrayal are the main reasons, but concern is the fact that women forgive in court and then fall prey to violence again.
With an average of 32 cases of violence for 10,000 women, Durres holds the negative record of violence against women for 2017.
The data released by INSTAT according to police reports speaks of 11 cases of violence more than the national average 22.7 women being violated.
Denoncings for domestic violence in the Durres police are daily, while most come from peripheral areas.
The causes are complex. Economics, gambling, and betrayal are listed primarily.
After Durres, Vlora is the second district where women are raped the most, while in Tirana the data speaks of 26.3 cases in 10,000 people.
Debra and Kukes are circles that have low levels of violence against women with 8.2 and 7.6 women per 10 thousand residents respectively.
