The Croatian president said at the meeting with the NATO chief, among other things, the security situation in the region, as well as Kosovo.
“Croatia supports Macedonia in its efforts to become a NATO member. It is not encouraging to referendum in Macedonia, but the decision belongs to the Parliament. Kosovo is also a cause for concern. All of us in the EU must support Kosovo and Serbia on their dialogue path. Croatia will not be involved in the talks between Pristina and Belgrade, but we will be watching carefully. And when it comes to defence investments, Croatia will continue to increase investments to reach 2 percent of BPV”, Croatia's president expressed confidence.
Meanwhile, Secretary General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said it is impressed with the development Croatia has made.
“Croatia is a respected ally. We have talked about the security situation in the region, primarily about elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Macedonia. We are committed to stability in the region”, Stoltenberg added.
