According to her, it is disappointing and depressing that this commission, despite numerous scientific evidence of the dangers caused by the dismissals from outdated vehicles, despite policy efforts in Europe and the world, and contrary to resolutions and environmental strategies approved by the Parliament and the Government of Kosovo for lowering air pollution levels, makes the decision to do just the opposite, Koha Ditore writes today.
Days ago, the Economic Development Commission has voted in favour of the amendment, which envisions allowing the import of older vehicles up to 15 years. But this amendment has not been supported by the Commission for European Integration, nor by him for Boards and Finances. This has also happened because of the response of the European Union Office and the German Embassy in Kosovo, which have voiced themselves against this amendment.
The KDC organisation in its analysis published Thursday has indicated that if such a policy is adopted, it will result in serious threats to citizens' health and serious air pollution, especially in urban environments. This will enable the importation of cars with the European standard Euro 3 of dismissal in EU countries since 13 years ago, since 2005.
