When the race was finished and the three winners were waiting in front of the podium, the marathon moderator told Kenyan athlete that a mistake had occurred and that it was ranked second.
No, no, I'm the first”, insisted the athlete, who had beat other runners by difference. Despite Kenya's controversy, however, organisers, including Mayor Erion Veliaj, had already decided that they would give the first prize to Louise Gega, even though she ranked after the sport from Kenya.
In protest, the girl from Kenya stepped down from the podium when Mayor Veliaj awarded Gega the gold medal, reports Politico.al.
Veliaj reportedly tried to justify this scandal by the fact that Gega was a participant in the inaugural ceremony and therefore left late, while the sports coach reportedly gave another version: “Louise was dating, so she left late. ”
Whatever the reason it has “prevents” Louise, the fact is that she did not rank first in the marathon, and she should have accepted this in sports, but it may have been the organisers who have led her to become part of this non-professional stage for the Mediterranean champion.
