An underground town that once sheltered over 2 million people.
Sanmenxia, in the province of Henan, has about 10,000 houses underground and 100 courts in common.
Sanmenxia dates back 4,000 years.
Some 3,000 people live there today.
The Chinese government is thinking of turning this village into a tourist attraction.
People Daily Online writes that tourists will be able to visit the city uniquely for its architecture.
Houses with common courtyards are known as yaodong and are believed to have been home to at least six generations for hundreds of years.
Experts say it took three years of work to build such a house.
They may seem simple at first glance, but they have elements of modern living in the West. ( TeMA )
