Although there is still no official information about the author or authors of the assassination against Oliver Ivanovic in the northern part of Mitrovica, the first effect of the serious event has been reflected in relations between Pristina and Belgrade.
According to Serbian media, the head of the Serbian delegation in bilateral dialogue in Brussels, Marko Djuric announced withdrawal from technical dialogue and return to Serbia until a second announcement.
“This is a terrorist and criminal act that is needed and will be punished”, he briefly told the media, following the announcement of withdrawal from dialogue.
Meanwhile, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called the assassination of the former SDP member a terrorist act. The Serbian president also demanded that Serbia be involved in investigations into Ivanovic's murder, reports Inseder.
However, while Ivanovic's murder has turned into serious issues for Serbia, just months ago it was the Serbian state that called the former SDP head the destabilising figure of the Serb people in Kosovo.
Serbia had called on the Serbian people in Kosovo not to vote before the June 11th parliamentary elections. Even for the Serbian state, Ivanov was described as a opponent.
“If you vote Oliver Ivanoviqi, you vote for Serb decay and unity in Kosovo, and clearly, you vote against holding an organic link between the state of Serbia and the Serbian people in the province of”, said in a statement by the Government of Serbia, ahead of the June 11th parliamentary elections in Kosovo.
The leader of the SDP Civic Initiative, Oliver Ivanovic, has been injured during the shootings last night in North Mitrovica. According to the media in Serbia, he could not survive the wounds and died this morning.
