Sali Berisha calls Kosovo a major risk to attempt to abolish Special

Berisha calls the initiative a winter dream bad because according to the former DP leader, it does not make a whole state suffer for the interests of certain individuals.

“I think this initiative marks an attempt for political success. The establishment of the Special Court is a contract that Kosovo's top authorities have signed with their own will, through the law they have voted in parliament on their own, with advice from the US and the European Union. The US and EU have committed major financial and human resources to the establishment and functioning of the tribunal for investigating punishment in line with the laws of eventual war crimes, or crimes against humanity committed by former KLA members. The breach of a contract with international partners would be kicking a contract with Kosovo partners and big friends. This act would have more serious consequences than any other act, or any Special Court decision. Such acts are not taken over by a free country that builds democracy because such acts are eventually punished by villainy states. Repowering the Special Court Law would destroy everything that was built in Kosovo. Also, the Security Council, based on international law, can activate with the full power of Resolution 1244 itself, which would be a major setback for Kosovo. Politics should not look at the protection of individuals, but on state interest.
